KUCHING: Eleven teams from Sarawak will take part in the “World Cup Asia 2009” to be held at the Xtion Paintball, Bukit Jalil Kuala Lumpur from November 19 to 23.
So far 122 teams from Malaysia, Singpore, Japan, Thailand, Phillipines, India, Australia, Iran, Guam USA, South Africa, UAE and Indonesia have registered for the tournament which will be divided into four divsions.
The first division comprises 24 teams followed by division two with 29 teams, division three with 49 teams and division four with 20 teams.
Sarawak Paintball Association entered six teams PPS Syndrome (Kuching), PGX Syndrome (Miri), PPS DEADSTAR Syndrome (Bintulu), PPS Headhunters (Kuching) and PPS Troopers (Bintulu) to compete in division three. One team, Rukun 13 (Kuching) will compete in division four.
Sentosa Sports Centre will also send in their team, SSC killer (Kuching) while the Borneo Paintball Scenarion/ Osiris Proshop will send in team Osiris (Kuching) also to compete in division three.
BPP Stadium Paintball will send in two teams with Beezwax (Kuching) taking part in division two and team Hornets playing it safe by participating in the division three. The Miri Paintball Arena will also be sending a team, Miri Mix Blood, to compete in division three.
All the teams taking part are undergoing intensive training and had attended paintball clinics conducted by noted paintball players.
Just recently they attended the paintball clinic held at the Kidurong Club in Bintulu which saw Gary Lee, captain of team XFOX who lead the team to the division one championship title sharing his experience on the game.
Also at the clinic was the captain of team Matrix Entourage Lemon Ruski who were the division two champions in the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit who gave them tips to succeed in the sport.
According to the Sarawak Paintball Association all this would not be possible without the support from the paintball operators namely BPP Stadium Paintball, Sentosa Sports Centre, Borneo Paintball Scenario and Miri Paintball Arena.
