KUALA LUMPUR 5 Jun – Kerajaan diminta mengkaji semula harga baru petrol dan diesel yang masing-masing naik 78 sen dan RM1 seliter kerana ia membebankan rakyat khususnya golongan berpendapatan rendah dan sederhana.
Saranan supaya kenaikan itu disemak kembali dibuat kerana orang ramai menjangkakan kenaikan harga petrol dan diesel akan menyebabkan harga barangan keperluan, kos perkhidmatan dan tambang pengangkutan awam akan menjadi bertambah mahal.
Orang ramai yang ditemui hari ini menghargai langkah kerajaan terus memberikan subsidi kepada mereka berikutan kenaikan harga bahan api itu tetapi berharap harganya diturunkan sedikit kerana kenaikan kali ini terlalu tinggi.
Kenaikan harga petrol kepada RM2.70 seliter dan diesel kepada RM2.58 seliter merupakan peningkatan sebanyak 40 peratus dan 63 peratus berbanding harga sebelumnya.
Tinjauan Utusan Malaysia di beberapa negeri termasuk di Kedah, Johor, Pahang dan Pulau Pinang mendapati orang ramai mengakui kenaikan harga barangan akibat penstrukturan semula subsidi minyak tidak dapat dielakkan.
Kenaikan harga minyak, menurut mereka, akan menyebabkan kos yang ditanggung oleh pelbagai pihak khususnya peniaga meningkat menyebabkan mereka terpaksa menaikkan harga barangan dan perkhidmatan bagi menampung kos pengangkutan.
Seorang peniaga kedai runcit di Johor Bahru, Tan Lian Chu, 40, berkata, kenaikan harga minyak memberi impak besar kepada pengguna, peruncit dan pemborong yang saling berkaitan antara satu sama lain.
“Bahan mentah selalunya tidak menentukan harga kerana ia sekejap naik, sekejap turun, tetapi apabila harga petrol naik, pasti akan berlaku kenaikan harga,” katanya
