Kemalangan di Jalan Balai Ringin – Simunjan

SIMUNJAN, – Selang 30minit, dua kemalangan melibatkan 3 buah kereta telah berlaku di suatu kaki bukit, kilometer 90 Jalan Kuching – Sri Aman (Sempadan Balai Ringin & Simunjan). Kejadian pertama melibatkan sebuah Honda City yang dipandu oleh seorang doktor wanita berbangsa melayu telah terbabas ke dalam longkang setelah merempuh limpahan air yang bertakung di kaki bukit.
Kemalangan kedua berlaku kira-kira 30minit kemudian apabila sebuah Perodua Kancil yang dipandu oleh seorang jejaka bidayuh yang hensem (agent littlemonster17) turut merempuh limpahan air tersebut.Akibatnya, kenderaan beliau telah terbabas ke dalam semak samun. Rakannya pula, memandu Perodua Kelisa yang mengekori rapat di belakang juga gagal mengawal kenderaan, lalu terbabas ke dalam longkang yang dipenuhi air. Kedua-dua mangsa adalah dalam perjalanan menuju ke Miri setelah bercuti menyambut Hari Krismas di Kuching.
Kejadian ini terjadi kerana kesemua mangsa tidak menyedari bahawa limpahan air tersebut sebenarnya agak dalam, dan bukannya lopak air semata-mata. Walau bagaimanapun, kesemua mangsa tidak mengalami sebarang kecederaan.
Menurut pihak polis & penduduk setempat, beberapa kemalangan telah terjadi di tempat yang sama pada malam sebelumnya. Ekoran dari kemalangan tersebut, pihak CMS telah bergegas ke tempat kejadian untuk memasang tanda amaran untuk keselamatan pengguna jalan raya yang lain.
