Kebakaran kecil di Rumah Ejon, Nanga Tiau, Mujong, Kapit.

KAPIT – 25 Febuari 2009, Rabu, Lebih kurang jam 12pm,
saya berada di SK. Ng. Tiau. Tiba- tiba ternampak kekecohan di kawasan rumah panjang berdekatan iaitu Rh. Ejon, Ng. Tiau. Apabila sampai di kawasan kejadian, di dapati terdapat asap putih keluar dari salah sebuah bilik rumah panjang tersebut. Kebakaran yang mampu di kawal dalam masa lebih kurang 30 minit itu, hampir- hampir menyebabkan rumah panjang yang mempunyai hampir 80 pintu daripada habis terbakar.
Ketika kejadian, hanya terdapat seorang nenek yang berusia lingkungan 70an di bilik tersebut. Jiran nya pula yang menyedari bau benda terbakar, segera membawa anak-anaknya yang masih makan tengahari, keluar dari bilik, enggan sesuatu terjadi pada ahli keluarganya.
Api berjaya dikawal dengan bantuan pemuda- pemuda di kawasan rumah panjang tersebut. Bekalan Alat Pemadam Api oleh pihak Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian Kapit sebelum ini, telah membantu mengawal api dari terus merebak ke kawasan lain. Selain itu, api juga di kawal dengan menggunakan pasir dan air. Tiada kehilangan nyawa dilaporkan, namun seorang telah cedera di tangan, kaki serta bahagian badan yang lain, dan telah di rujuk ke Klinik Kesihatan Ng. Melinau.
Ahli St. John Ambulan, Pengakap dan beberapa orang guru yang datang dari SK. Ng Tiau, turut memberi bantuan kepada mereka yang memerlukan. Anggaran kerugian lebih kurang RM15 000. Tindakan pantas beberapa penduduk rumah panjang tersebut telah menyelamatkan bilik lain daripada terbakar.
